A guided visit to Kanchanaburi & Ayutthaya
DAY 1: BANGKOK - RIVER KWAI (KANCHANABURI) (200 km)
Early morning transfer to Kanchanaburi from your Bangkok hotel. We make a short stop at Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom, one of Thailand’s holiest Buddhist sites. In Kanchanaburi, we visit the infamous J.E.A.T.H. War Museum, the War Cemetery and the popular Bridge over the River Kwai. A short ride on the Death Railway is an adventure you won’t regret. Lunch at a good local restaurant. In the afternoon we take a long-tailed boat from the pier to get to the Resotel, through lush jungle scenery. Afternoon is at leisure.
DAY 2: RIVER KWAI (KANCHANABURI) (50 km)
Breakfast at the resort. Today we take an exciting boat trip downstream to the Resotel pier and continue to visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial. Then return for a Thai lunch. In the afternoon, visit the nearby ethnic Mon tribal village.
Note: The following optional tours are available in the afternoon: an elephant ride the Bamboo Forest; canoeing; bamboo rafting, a visit of the Saiyoke Yai Waterfall or the Lawa Caves. Should you not opt for a tour, relax at the hotel instead.
DAY 3: RIVER KWAI - KANCHANABURI - AYUTTHAYA (155 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by boat to the Resotel Pier and continue by airconditioned vehicle to Ayutthaya. En route stop in Suphanburi. Check-in at your hotel in Ayutthaya. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Historical Park of Ayutthaya, the former Thai capital, once compared in style and wealth to Paris! Visits include the highlights Wat Mongkol, Borpitr and Wat Sri Sanpetch. In the afternoon time at leisure or explore the city on your own. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at Krungsri River, Ayutthaya, or similar.
DAY 4: AYUTTHAYA – BANG PA-IN – BANGKOK (80 km)
On the way back to Bangkok, we visit King Rama V’s summer palace in Bang Pa-In and the handicraft center of Bang Sai. Transfer back to Bangkok Airport (earliest departures from Bangkok Airport 13:00 pm) or your hotel in Bangkok.
